initial consultation
Your Initial Consultation will last for 45 minutes. It begins with you completing a comprehensive health questionnaire, which enables the chiropractor to obtain an immediate overview of your health concerns. Following this an examination is undertaken.
The initial examination includes a thorough physical, orthopaedic and chiropractic examination of the problematic area/s and possibly a scan with a surface EMG Scanner to determine the areas of dysfunction in your spine.
Treatment may then begin depending on each individual patient’s condition.
Subsequent Treatments
Following your Initial Consultation you will receive a Report of Findings during which you will have explained your condition, the appropriate treatment, how long it should take to make a recovery and how you can help yourself. If treatment has not already started, it will begin on this visit. Subsequent visits will include treatment and home advice such as exercises, stretches, postural correction and possibly a referral to another appropriate health practitioner to further facilitate your recovery to health.
Attendance at a Health Care Class (see other services) is recommended so that you may learn techniques to prevent relapses of your health problem. There wil also be a review of your symptoms and examination findings at regular intervals to monitor your progress and ensure the treatment is modified to suit your needs.
Treatment may involve Sacro-Occipital Technique (a popular post graduate chiropractic technique) and may range from:
- Spinal and extremity manipulation
- Cranial and visceral manipulation
- Mobilisation
- Massage
- Stretches
Subsequent treatments will include further treatments:
- Acupuncture
- Nutritional advice
- Exercise programme
